San Salvador de Jujuy
The city was founded at its current place in 1593 and has over 265 thousand inhabitants and it is one of the most important touristic points of the North region of Argentina. It is known as the “La Tacitade Plata” (the silver little cup) because of its geographic location since it is surrounded by mountains in a triangle that is formed by the high grassy geography of Nieva and the Xibi-Xibi and Grande rivers.
Right from this place, the ravine of Humahuaca begins to ascend; a natural climbing path to the Puna, with grounds of changing tones that range from blue to red.
Its modern buildings alternate with others of colonial style. The city has a modern welcoming infrastructure such as comfortable hotels, restaurants, and cafes. It has a quite active commercial center where you can purchase many regional articles. The capital of Salta takes the same name as the province and it is located to the East of the Andes mountain range in the Lerma Valley, at 1187 asl (3894 feet) and crosses on the Arenales river that divides the center, north and south.
